The season for apple picking is short and sweet so enjoy it while you can! Here we have some of North Atlanta’s most highly rated apple orchards. All of these spots allow you to pick your own apples – the perfect way to ring in the fall season. With farm fun activities for the whole family, the kids will be sure to love it too!
Hillcrest Orchards is located in Ellijay and offers “U-PICK” apples every day from September 3rd until they are all picked! On weekdays, families are welcome to enjoy the petting farm, wagon rides playground, giant slides, tricycle rides, jumping pillows, ball zone, soccer challenge, ping pong, corn hole, zipper swings, & the fairy tale trail. Also keep an eye out for the swimming pig races at 12:30 daily and cow milking at 11 am daily.
R & A Orchards is located in Ellijay and offers farm tours and pick your own apples every weekend in September. They will also deliver fresh apples straight to your door! This orchard is family owned and they’re excited to share their apple picking traditions with the public.
Mercier Orchards has something for the whole family. Located in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains, Mercier Orchards offers pick your own apples and tractor tours of the facility daily. Visitors can also come enjoy fresh apple pie and baked goods, shop in the market, or even have a taste of hard cider or mulled wine at the local winery. If you come on the weekend, you can find delicious food trucks as well!
“U Pick” apple season is now until October 30th at BJ Reese Orchards located in Ellijay. “Farm Fun Activities” are open on weekends which include the farm slide, corn box, duck races, petting farm play time, wagon ride around the farm, admission to the pig races, milk the cow, jumping pillow play time & cow train ride. Be sure to also stop by their bakery to try one of their World Famous Apple Cider Donuts!
Hillside Orchard Farms is a family owned business located in Lakemont. During the fall, they offer hayrides and the farm train, in addition to trying some freshly picked apples. Their corn maze is open beginning September 1st!
